Our apprentice Profile Operative Daniel Casson has just qualified following two years of intensive but enjoyable training.
Here’s what he had to say about his experience at Murray Steel so far.
What sums up your time at Murray Steel to date?
This was my first job and it’s been a great experience so far. I’ve really enjoyed learning how to operate the Tecoi THOR in particular. It’s been a fast two years.
What key things have you learnt throughout your apprenticeship?
To apply myself and have self-motivation. To help others without being asked. To be proud of the quality of the work I’ve produced.
If you could go back in time to your first day, what would you tell yourself about the role?
It’s really worth it, you’ll enjoy it. You’ll learn lots and make new friends.
What would you say to others thinking about doing an apprenticeship with Murray Steel?
Definitely go for it! You won’t regret it. But be prepared to work hard.
What lies ahead for you now?
I recently joined the night shift team and I’m learning new skills every week. I want to continue with my machine training to further develop my skills.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I’ll be here! Hopefully working towards a team leader or machine expert role. And my goal is to buy my own house.
“We’re delighted with the progress that Daniel has made and how he passed his apprenticeship with flying colours. He’s a real credit to the team and we look forward to his continued development with Murray Steel.” Linsay Thomson, Operations Manager.
